Compact Car Hits Tractor

MANCHESTER, CT — A compact hatchback hit a tractor trailer in Manchester and the driver, a Vernon resident was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, state police said.

State police released details of the Friday crash over the weekend.

According to a crash report, at 9:33 a.m. a tractor-trailer being driven by a 59-year-old Middletown man was heading west on the Exit 60-62 ramp at the Interstate 84 West interchange and a 2007 Pontiac Vibe being driven by a 33-year-old Vernon woman was as well.

The Vibe suddenly veered to the shoulder, then back onto the highway and hit the truck on its side and the truck then hit about 60 feet of wire guardrail, according to a crash report.

The driver of the Vibe The Pontiac driver was cited for having no insurance and a lane violation, according to a crash report.

Two passengers in the Vibe — a 33-year-old Vernon man and a 7-year-old child, sustained min or injuries.

The truck driver was not injured.
