September 20, 2024 - by Tim Schnettler

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Williamson County is hosting The Future of Precision Agricultural Sprayer Technology on Oct. 4 in Thrall.

The free event, sponsored by Williamson County Farm Bureau, will be held at the Stiles Farm Foundation, 5700 Farm-to-Market Road 1063, Thrall. Check-in begins at 7:45 a.m., with the program starting at 8 a.m. Registration is available at https://williamson.agrilife.org.

The use of agriculture in technology has grown quickly, and participants will learn about modern application techniques to meet today’s farming needs.

Topics include:

There will also be a precision sprayer demonstration of John Deere See and Spray technology and Vortex Advantage Ag drones.

The See and Spray technology uses scanners mounted on the spray booms to reduce the amount of herbicide applied, improve spray accuracy and efficiency, conserve water resources, and reduce pesticide load into the environment.

Drone sprayers are available with sophisticated guidance technology allowing them to spray with precision, minimizing spray drift concerns for nearby residential properties.

Two TDA continuing education units will be available — one general, and one laws and regulation.
